LPKF from Germany showcases its laser digital transfer printing technology LTP for the first time at the China International Glass Industry Technology Exhibition

Since its establishment in 1976, LPKF AG in Germany has been committed to providing customers with advanced laser technology solutions. As a technology leader in the global laser microfabrication field, LPKF will debut its latest developed laser digital transfer technology LTP and laser digital transfer system LPKF NovaPrint at the China International Glass Industry Technology Exhibition from May 6th to 9th.

Pain points of traditional glass printing techniques

As is well known, flat glass is widely used in industries such as automobiles, construction, public transportation (airplanes, buses, ships, trains), displays, mobile phones, home appliances, etc. In order to make the glass more beautiful or achieve corresponding functions (recognition, communication, heating, sealing), people need to print decorative or functional layers on the glass.

Traditional techniques usually use screen printing or inkjet printing. Screen printing requires the preparation of a screen in advance, with one image per version. Even if only one piece is printed, the screen needs to be designed and manufactured in advance, which is time-consuming and the process is cumbersome. If inkjet printing is chosen, special ink must be used, which is extremely expensive and several times more expensive than ordinary ink; And inkjet printing has strict requirements for ink viscosity, solid solution content, and particle size. Small particle size can clog the filter, while large particle size can clog the nozzle.

A new choice for glass printing solutions for automobiles and public transportation vehicles

Industry insiders have been exploring whether there is a new printing technology that can overcome the shortcomings of inkjet printing and screen printing while integrating their advantages?

After eight years of painstaking research and development, LPKF has launched the laser transfer printing system LPKF NovaPrint. This system combines the advantages of low cost of screen printing and high flexibility of inkjet printing. It uses conventional ink and does not require pre production of a screen. It can print various shapes and thicknesses of graphics required by customers in one stop, making it particularly suitable for printing needs with multiple varieties and few batches.

LPKF NovaPrint System Highlights

LPKF NovaPrint uses a unique design that utilizes laser pulses to transfer ink from the medium onto the workpiece in a pre designed pattern. No need to make a plate in advance, just click the mouse to complete it. Adjust the pattern thickness by changing the laser pulse energy. Multi layer printing can be achieved on existing layers without drying.
