On November 8th, MKS Instruments, Inc. has released the latest product of its popular Spectra Physics InSight X3+tunable ultrafast laser series, adding integrated attenuation functionality. This new feature provides real-time, software controlled output power adjustment to enhance built-in automatic wavelength and dispersion compensation tuning, further optimizing multiphoton imaging performance.

InSight X3+is recognized as an advanced tool for multiphoton imaging applications, widely used in deep tissue imaging in neuroscience and many other applications. The new integrated attenuation function is another important extension of our ultrafast laser product line for biological imaging applications Herman Chui, Senior Marketing Director of MKS Optics and Motion Division, said.

950 research articles based on InSight lasers have been published, with over 10000 citations. InSight lasers are an important component of hundreds of biological imaging devices worldwide, providing an impressive wavelength tuning range of 680 to 1300 nm. Each InSight laser includes DeepSee automatic dispersion compensation to ensure the shortest pulses are delivered to the sample. The InSight X3+model provides over 3 W of power at the peak of the tuning range and extends to the tuning range of 900 to 1100 nm, where many fluorescent groups with biological effects have their absorption bands. The InSight X3+with integrated attenuation function is fully controlled by software and equipped for various applications, including multiphoton imaging, stimulated Raman spectroscopy (SRS), second harmonic generation (SHG) microscopy, coherent anti Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS), and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM).
